HOVERAir X1

I’ve taken the Hoverair through it paces and really enjoyed the video outcome. The unit is easy to operate. I ride my bicycle a lot and take the hover with me all the time.

After a mishap with my Hoverair X1.
I contacted Customer service to arrange repair. Response was quick and RMA issued. My Hoverair X1 repair was promptly performed and returned to me like New. I later ordered repair parts with the same prompt service.

Very excellent and easy self-flying follow me anywhere

This drone takes all the drone shots I like to take when traveling. Small, compact size makes it an amazing gadget to have. Looking forward to even more features in the future!

I was looking at other reviewers and while everyone gave good feedback, there was negative feedback about the delivery and support experience. I was very happy to see that the product was delivered to me in 3 days after placing the order. Also the support is very responsive. Any question I ask gets answered within 24 hours.

About the product:
What I liked:
1) Fully autonomous and can be operated without a phone. Ability to customize settings without the phone
2) All the modes that you would typically need are available and this saves lot of time compared to other drones.
3) The size of Hoverair is excellent as I can put it in my pocket and carry whenever I want. Also its very lightweight
4) The battery charger allows faster charging compared to charging on the Hoverair.
5) The app is good and was able to connect and change/set settings easily
6) Love the audio recording function from the phone when Hoverair is recording video.
What I didnt like
1) Even the slightest wind causes it to error and stop recording. I wish on wind error it atleast took snapshots on way back. In the future version probably a larger battery with a bit heavier drone would help with some amount of wind.
2) During one of recordings and person came from behind me and hit the drone so it went over shrubs on roadside and hovered for 10 seconds and then landed in the shrub. I wish there was a return to home kind of a function where it tries to connect to the phone and comes back to the phone. Or atleast hover in place till the battery drops to 25%. I could have tried connecting in manual mode and brought it back. Since it went down on its own I had to go through shrubs to pick it up. Also I wish it stops when it finds someone else coming in the way like circle or zoom out mode. Along with the hoverair it might be good to provide a placard that says "Please wait for a minute, Flying Selfie recording in progress" or something of that sort which we can post behind us so that people new to drones would stop
3) Sometimes the Hoverair detection is not accurate. Yesterday in front of Golden Gate Bridge I tried to use zoom out mode and there were 4 of us and some people behind me looking in the other direction. The hoverair went up and came back fine however when I put my palm forward below it, and it didnt land instead it went to the left to someone else and that person didnt know how to land it so it got hit and fell on the ground. This happened 2 times in a row. The second time I just caught it and turned it upside down and it stopped.
4) Today while testing birds eye view, instead of going up it went down and landed on the ground. There was no one around me and it was right in front of my home. Next time when I ran it again it worked fine.
5) I always have battery anxiety because every minute of recording takes 10% out and when the battery is at 9% it stops recording so pretty much we have 9 minutes with no wind to record.
6) The voice recording features doesnt work with headset or noise cancelling headset. I see that it always takes audio from the phone. It would be good to provide a compatible microphone along with Hoverair so that the audio recording experience will be good. Also sometimes there are sync issue, so it might be good to add audio correction parameter in the phone so that audio synchs up with action/video.
